They actually kind of go together! I like the design for these covers. They look so happy, which is weird because of all the heartbreak they contain on the inside…

There’s actually a lot of symbolism here. For one thing, Eureka is standing alone whereas Renton is with the rest of Gekkostate (pretty obvious) but it definitely foreshadows what happens to them. Eureka is also standing in the water, as if being absorbed by the ocean, a visual metaphor for what her fate is (of course, not by water). There’s also the fact that Eureka is standing before an endless horizon, whereas you can see land behind Renton. Her existence and life are almost ethereal compared to his, and she’s destined to fade away into the existential void of it all.
